Privacy Policy

Keylight Labs is a personal finance tool for creators and musicians, operated by Keylight Advisory Inc ("Keylight Labs", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email hello@keylightlabs.com.

1. Information we collect

Account information: your name, email address, password (stored only in hashed form), business niche, and settings you choose.
Financial information you connect: when you link a bank or card account, we use Plaid Inc. ("Plaid") to receive account names, balances and transaction history. You enter your bank login directly with Plaid; we never see or store your bank username or password.
Statements you upload: bank or card statements you choose to upload, and the transactions we read from them.
Billing information: our payment processor, Stripe, collects your card details. We receive only your subscription status, plan and limited card details (such as the last four digits). We never store full card numbers.
Support and feedback: messages you send us, including support requests and suggestions.
Technical information: basic log data needed to run and secure the service, such as sign-in times, IP address and browser type. We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. On our website (not inside your dashboard), we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as pages viewed and how you found us. You can opt out with Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.

2. How we use your information

To provide Keylight Labs: categorizing your income and expenses, building your overview, reports and tax estimates.
To secure your account, including email verification codes before bank connections.
To manage your subscription and free trial.
To respond to support requests and, if you book one, a call with the Keylight Advisory team.
To send service emails (for example sign-in codes, billing notices and important updates). Marketing emails are sent only if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
To improve and protect the service, and to comply with legal obligations.

Keylight Labs uses artificial intelligence (AI) to read statements you upload, categorize transactions and write plain-English summaries of your finances. Our hosting and data processing providers, and the AI model providers they work with, process this data on our behalf only to provide the service to us, not for their own purposes. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to train AI models. Questions you type into Ask Labs are processed by AI only to answer you. They stay private to your account, and our team sees a chat only if you choose to send it to support.

3. How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only:

With service providers that run Keylight Labs for us: Plaid (bank connections), Stripe (payments), our application hosting and database provider (which also performs AI categorization and summaries), Resend and Microsoft (email), and Google Analytics (website visit statistics). They receive only what they need to perform their service.
With people you invite: if you invite a team member (for example a manager or bookkeeper), they can see your Keylight Labs workspace. You can remove them anytime.
With the Keylight Advisory team, only if you ask for help or book a call and grant access.
When required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply.

4. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account is active.
You can delete your account in Settings. This permanently removes your profile, transactions and uploaded statements.
When you disconnect a bank or delete your account, we revoke Keylight Labs' access to that connection through Plaid.
You can delete uploaded statements at any time.
Deletion requests sent to hello@keylightlabs.com are completed within 30 days.
We keep billing records only as long as required for tax and legal purposes.

5. Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, multi-factor authentication for our team, least-privilege access, and an email verification step before bank connections. Keylight Labs has read-only access to connected accounts and can never move your money. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify you without undue delay if a breach affects your information.

6. Your choices and rights

You can access, correct or delete your information in the app or by emailing hello@keylightlabs.com. Depending on where you live, including California, you may have additional rights to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction, and to not be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We will verify your request using your account email and respond within the time required by law.

7. Children

Keylight Labs is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If changes are material, we will notify you by email or in the app before they take effect. The effective date above shows the latest version.
